What You’ll Need:

• A roll of Label media with gaps (labels with spaces between each one)
• Your DA-series printer (DA210, DA220, DA310, or DA320)

Turn the Printer off

Open the Printer Cover

Lift the top cover to expose the media compartment.

Remove the Old Label Roll

If there’s an existing roll, open the spring loaded green roll holder.

Load the New Label Media Roll

• Place the new roll into the free roll holder.
• Feed the labels through the print head assembly.
• Make sure the labels are aligned and the gaps are visible between each label

Close the Printer Cover

Once everything is aligned, close the cover securely.

Calibrate the Sensor

To ensure accurate label detection:

• Hold down the Feed button & turn the printer on, until the printer LED starts flashing red.
• This triggers auto-calibration, allowing the printer to detect the gap size and label length.

BarTender® v11.8 delivers targeted enhancements that support more precise control over label printing and increased reliability in dynamic printing environments. This release continues our focus on helping organizations maintain operational efficiency while adapting to evolving printing needs.

The release will be deployed on October 13, 2025.

Note: The previous BarTender release was version 11.5. The current release is version 11.8. Seagull has skipped versions 11.6 and 11.7 for BarTender in order to align the version numbers with BarTender Cloud, which has had two versions released between BarTender releases.

What’s New

• Printer Groups in the Printer Dropdown: The Printer dropdown list for Print Portal and Print Station is now organized into collapsible groups for easier navigation.
• Automatic Grace Period for Expiring Subscriptions: BarTender now automatically grants to all versions of BarTender from 2019 on a 15-day grace period after a subscription has expired, minimizing the chance of downtime due to a subscription lapse.
• Updated Media Stock Catalog: Newly supported stock types from Zebra Technologies have been added to BarTender’s catalog while outdated entries have been removed to maintain relevance and clarity.
• Seagull Logos v1.1 Font Expanded: The Seagull Logos v1.1 font now includes two new symbols: the EPC icon (the 7 key) and the RFID icon (the 8 key).
• End User Licence Agreement Updated: BarTender’s End User License Agreement has moved to an online-only repository and must be agreed to before BarTender can be installed.

Minor Fixes

This release includes a series of refinements that contribute to overall platform reliability and consistency:

• Opening the Database Setup dialog in Designer in any language except English no longer produces an error.
• The Edition Required field on the BarTender Edition Required dialog now displays correctly for Simple Serialization.
• When adding a multi-column dropdown list to a label form, the Columns page on the Properties dialog now displays all information correctly.
• When entering text in a Text object in the Designer, the text no longer wraps and inverts after 256 characters are entered.
• The Time Picker Data Entry control now displays seconds correctly in Preview and Print.
• The preview generated when using a Dropdown Record Picker control along with Template Preview in a label now increments correctly after the initial print.
• Workstations no longer receive an erroneous Maximum Printers Exceeded warning.
• When using Print Station with a label that includes data forms, pressing the Enter key twice in rapid succession (or scanning a barcode with two carriage returns at the end) no longer results in Print Station graying out the interface.
• Labels that use the Word Wrap and Automatically Fit Test to Specified Dimensions options now display the correct font size in all fonts.
• Older labels with Access database connections now open correctly in BarTender Designer.
• When printing the same record consecutively using the Record Picker control to select it from a database, BarTender now prints the second record correctly.
• Integrations no longer crash and create dump files.
• In Designer, fonts no longer appear multiple times in the font selection dropdown.
• BarTender correctly adds, starts, stops, or removes integrations from the Administration Console when using the Electronic Signature option for the Administer Integrations action in Integration Builder.
• Serialized text now prints correctly on a second printing of labels that contain a serialized text object.
• In the BarTender Licensing Wizard, an incorrect version error message no longer displays for a workstation license.
• BarTender now displays the correct error message when an active license needs to be deactivated.
• Large embedded PDF pictures no longer cause slowness and lag when designing a template.
• When font @HGゴシックE-PRO is used in a document, the font now displays correctly on the Fonts tab of the Text Properties dialog.

Web User Interface enables users to control and manage one or several printers using a remote device over network.

Opening the Web User Interface

Follow the steps below to open the web user interface for the printer

1. Open your web browser.
2. Enter the printer’s IP address inside the browser’s address bar and then press “Enter”.
   NOTE: For how to know the printer’s IP address, you may refer to 6 TSC Console for detailed information or contact your IT
   department for further assistance.
   NOTE:
   Due to regional regulations, when logging in for the first time in specific areas, users will be prompted to set a new
   username and password. The screen prompting you to set a new username and password will appear on the
   display when you log in for the first time.
   Please enter the username of administrator “admin”, and its default password “admin”.

• The password setting rules are as follows: the length is limited to 8 to 15 characters, it must contain at least one
  uppercase and lowercase letter and a number. The content can be English letters, numbers, or symbols, but does
  not support double-byte characters.
• To consider security, the printer will restart if you enter an incorrect password 5 times.

3. When the screen appears, you can start using the web user interface to manage the printer.

Still Using BarTender 2019 or Earlier? Time to Upgrade to BarTender 11.4

If your business is still running BarTender 2019, 2016, or even older versions like 10.1, it’s time to start planning for an upgrade. These versions are now in End of Support and will reach End of Life (EOL) in 2026, meaning no more updates, technical support, or compatibility assurance.

BarTender has officially announced the following End of Life schedule:

• No technical or activation support
• No ability to add printers or upgrade editions after the EOL date

From July 2025, Subscription Licensing Becomes Mandatory

As of 1 July 2025, any business still using BarTender 2019 or earlier will be required to convert to a subscription licence in order to:

• Add printers
• Upgrade editions

Delaying this move could result in operational issues or compliance gaps.
